In this episode of #DropTheTailgate, Region 4 Outreach and Communications Coordinator Matt Cameron joins OHV Officer Joel Hyden to dig ginseng on the North Cumberland Wildlife Management Area, the only WMA in the state where digging ginseng is legal. Joel discusses the legalities of digging ginseng in Tennessee, what to look for and where it grows. While no ginseng permit is required on NCWMA, a valid Tennessee hunting and fishing license and WMA permit or a High Impact Conservation Permit are necessary to be on NCWMA. These licenses and permits are also required for the very popular OHV riding opportunities on NCWMA. Watch for a DTT episode about that program soon. Licenses and permits may be purchased online at GoOutdoorsTennessee.com.
